01 The Irish market
Twenty-six counties, eight regions
Ireland had an estimated 5.53 million residents in April 2026, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The CSO groups the 26 counties into eight regions: Dublin (1.60 million), the South-West (0.79 million: Cork and Kerry), the Mid-East (0.79 million: Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow), the Mid-West (0.54 million: Clare, Limerick and Tipperary), the West (0.53 million: Galway, Mayo and Roscommon), the South-East (0.49 million: Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford), the Border (0.45 million: Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo) and the Midland (0.34 million: Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath). A prospect list can be scoped to one county, a region or the whole country.
Industrial and manufacturing: Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick
The CSO's business demography counted 19,617 active manufacturing enterprises in 2024, engaging 278,400 people. By the county where each enterprise is registered, Dublin accounted for 70,100 of them, Cork 44,500, Galway 20,300, Limerick 13,000, Meath 10,500 and Waterford 10,300. Machinery and equipment engaged 13,300 people, including 2,500 in Cork, 1,900 in Dublin, 1,500 in Kerry and 1,200 in Carlow. In the Labour Force Survey for the second quarter of 2026, industry accounted for 18% of employment in the Mid-West, the highest regional share, against 7% in Dublin.
Pharma and life sciences: Cork, Dublin, Galway and Mayo
The CSO counted 96,848 people working in the pharmaceutical and medical technology sectors in 2025, 60% more than in 2019; 86% of them worked for foreign-owned enterprises. More of these employees lived in Cork (17.3%) than in any other county, followed by Dublin (15.6%) and Galway (15.1%). Pharmaceutical manufacturing on its own engaged 33,800 people in 2024, including 11,800 in Cork, 10,100 in Dublin, 4,100 in Mayo and 2,600 in Waterford. Medicinal and pharmaceutical products made up €137.6 billion of Ireland's €258.9 billion in goods exports in 2025.
Energy and environmental technology: wind, solar and interconnectors
According to the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), 40.9% of Ireland's electricity supply in 2025 came from renewable sources. Gas supplied 40.0%, wind 32.0% (12.0 TWh) and net imports through the interconnectors with Great Britain and Northern Ireland 16.3%. Installed wind capacity reached 5.1 GW at the end of 2025, against a national target of 14 GW by 2030, including 5 GW offshore. Solar PV generated 1.65 TWh, 50% more than in 2024, two thirds of it from large-scale solar farms. CSO metered-consumption figures show that data centres used 7,662 GWh of electricity in 2025, about 23% of all metered electricity.
Food and agriculture: dairy in the south
The CSO's June 2026 livestock figures count 7.07 million cattle, including 1.62 million dairy cows, plus 5.15 million sheep and 1.64 million pigs. The Southern region held 70% of the dairy cows: Cork had 384,900 dairy cows, Tipperary 190,700, Limerick 125,600 and Kilkenny 106,700. Food, beverage and tobacco manufacturing engaged 60,100 people in 2024 (Dublin 14,900, Cork 8,000, Louth 4,000, Waterford 3,800), and food and live animals were worth €16.7 billion in exports in 2025, of which meat accounted for €5.3 billion and dairy products for €4.9 billion.
How an Irish list is built
Choose your unit, describe what you sell and name the counties or regions you want covered, or the whole country. Nexfield works through all 56 sub-sectors of your unit and returns only companies that are probable buyers, never your competitors. Each row comes with county, city, sub-sector, company size, a priority rating and one sentence explaining why the company belongs on your list.

The Test is a sample of the real list: about 8 to 12 highly matched companies in Ireland, in the same Excel format as a full order, for one fixed price of €99 with no subscription. If it fits, the Local package (€950) maps the rest of the country.
The list is about companies, not people: every entry is researched by our AI and confirmed in public sources, and it contains no personal contact details and no email addresses. You remain responsible for how you contact the companies, as set out in section 8 of our terms and conditions.
Businesses in Ireland with a valid VAT number pay 0% Dutch VAT: the VAT is reverse-charged. Prices are always shown excluding VAT.
