01  The Swedish market

Twenty-one counties, 290 municipalities

Sweden is divided into 21 counties (län) and 290 municipalities, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). The counties run from Skåne, Blekinge and Halland in the south, through Västra Götaland, Östergötland, Stockholm and Uppsala in the centre, to Västerbotten and Norrbotten in the north. A prospect list can be scoped to one county, a group of neighbouring counties or the whole country.

Industrial and manufacturing: machinery, vehicles and metals

Sweden exported goods worth SEK 2,044 billion in 2025, according to SCB. Engineering products made up 44.0% of that, including machinery (SEK 298.3 billion), road vehicles (SEK 261.6 billion) and electronics and telecom equipment (SEK 218.8 billion). Forest products added SEK 181.4 billion and iron and steel SEK 73.2 billion. According to the Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU), the country had 13 working metal mines and 15 mining sites in 2024. Most of its mineral resources lie in three ore districts: Norrbotten, the Skellefte field in Västerbotten and Bergslagen. Ore production was about 80 million tonnes, and the mines employed 8,847 people, including contractors. Of those, 6,528 worked in Norrbotten, including all 5,088 people employed in iron ore mining, and 1,045 in Västerbotten.

Pharma and life sciences: four counties

Pharmaceuticals accounted for SEK 152.7 billion, or 7.5%, of Swedish goods exports in 2025 (SCB). The innovation agency Vinnova, working with SCB register data, counted 53,284 employees in Swedish life science companies in 2023. Medical technology and pharmaceuticals were the two largest branches by employment. The jobs are concentrated in four counties: Stockholm (21,594), Västra Götaland (9,388), Skåne (7,588) and Uppsala (6,927). Together they account for about 85% of the sector's employment.

Energy and environmental technology: hydro, nuclear and wind

Sweden produced 167 TWh of electricity in 2025, according to the Swedish Energy Agency's final statistics, produced by SCB. Hydropower supplied 66.9 TWh, nuclear power 44.8 TWh, wind power 39.0 TWh, conventional thermal power 11.8 TWh and solar power 4.4 TWh. According to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority, six reactors are in operation at three nuclear power plants: Forsmark in Östhammar (Uppsala County), Oskarshamn (Kalmar County) and Ringhals in Varberg (Halland). Energy products, mainly oil products, accounted for SEK 134.9 billion of goods exports in 2025.

Food and agriculture: SEK 149 billion in exports

Sweden exported agricultural products and food worth SEK 149.3 billion in 2025, according to the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket), 6.5% more than in 2024. Fish accounts for 38% of that figure and includes a significant share of re-exported Norwegian fish. Excluding fish, exports were SEK 92.5 billion, up 11.7%, with the clearest increases in cereals, coffee, dairy products, oils and fats, fruit and vegetables, and tobacco. On that basis, Norway, Denmark and Finland together took 45% of Swedish agri-food exports.

How a Swedish list is built

Choose your unit, describe what you sell and name the counties you want covered, or the whole country. Nexfield works through all 56 sub-sectors of your unit and returns only companies that are probable buyers, never your competitors. Each row comes with county, city, sub-sector, company size, a priority rating and one sentence explaining why the company belongs on your list.

One row per company: company name, country, region, city, sector, sub-sector, company size, a priority rating and one sentence explaining why the company is a probable buyer of what you sell. You choose the counties to cover, or take the whole of Sweden. Delivered as an Excel file with filters on every column.

The four live units: industrial and manufacturing, energy and environmental tech, pharma and life sciences, and food and agriculture. In Sweden that typically means machinery, vehicles and metals, life sciences concentrated in four counties, hydro, nuclear and wind, and agri-food exporters. The Test is a sample of the real list: about 8 to 12 highly matched companies in Sweden, in the same Excel format as a full order, for one fixed price of €99 with no subscription. If it fits, the Local package (€950) maps the rest of the country.

The list is about companies, not people: every entry is researched by our AI and confirmed in public sources, and it contains no personal contact details and no email addresses. You remain responsible for how you contact the companies, as set out in section 8 of our terms and conditions.

Businesses in Sweden with a valid VAT number pay 0% Dutch VAT: the VAT is reverse-charged. Prices are always shown excluding VAT.

04  Who we are

An AI company with engineering roots.

Nexfield is an AI company. Our sector-specialist AI works through the 56 sub-sectors of your unit, finds the companies that should be buying what you sell, classifies and prioritises them, and reviews its own output against your description before anything is delivered.

Nexfield was founded by a chemical engineer with years in technical sales to the process industry. That is why the reasoning on every list follows how industrial buying actually works, rather than generic company data.

We work business-to-business only: one order, one fixed price, no retainer, no contract, no minimum. Every order is covered by our terms and conditions.
